XM
Open with $5, trade on MT4 or MT5, and reach 1000:1 leverage (offshore). XM is aimed squarely at the retail trader.
Fact sheet
What kind of broker is it?
Which XM you deal with depends on where you live. Clients in the EU are served by a CySEC-regulated entity and Australians by one under ASIC. Retail clients elsewhere go to offshore entities in Belize and Seychelles, where leverage is higher and bonuses are offered. All of them belong to the Trading Point Holdings group. The entry cost is very low at $5, there are three account types, and one of those is a micro tier requiring no deposit. XM has not built a platform; trading is on MT4 and MT5 only.
Where the points come from
These points measure fit, not rank. When a broker gets 5.0 for something, we judged it by the demands of its own category and did not compare it with every other broker.
The good and the not so good
In its favour
- A $5 deposit is enough to begin
- Runs both MT4 and MT5 in full
- Choose from Micro, Standard and Ultra Low accounts
- Webinars and learning content of good quality
- Help desk open 24/5, speaking 30+ languages
- Bonus offers at the offshore entities
Against it
- 30:1 is the ceiling on EU/AU accounts; higher needs offshore
- MT is the only platform; there is no in-house one
- Read bonus terms carefully: they include volume requirements
- A fee starts after 90 days without activity
- US residents are turned away
Is it right for you?
A fit for retail forex traders who already feel comfortable in MT4/MT5, want to start small and are willing to use an offshore entity to get more leverage. Anyone who wants a broker regulated at tier-1 level only should pass.
Trading CFDs means trading with leverage, and losing money is a real and high risk. Check that this broker may legally serve residents of your country before you deposit. Its full risk warning is on its official website.
